The octopus is an otherworldly creature that deserves more praise than it gets. Octopuses are a part of the mollusk family; other members of the mollusk family are the cuttlefish. These strange creatures live across the world and are extremely smart for a sea creature but they have 9 brains after all. Octopus are known for escaping and stealing from their caretakers when in captivity. In the wild the octopus is known for its ability to squish into a small area, they can compress their body into small places to hide their body from enemies or to catch prey. To eat their prey they have a kind of beak that helps them eat their prey easier. Typically the octopus eats prey with a harder outer shell like a crab or a clam. These prey for most sea creatures would be hard to get into but because of the beak of the octopus they get into the prey faster. The blue ringed octopus is one of these important and sneaky creatures.

The blue ringed octopus is a very dangerous and venomous creature; it is fairly small; it only grows around 5 to 8 inches. In the animal kingdom you can tell which animals are venomous because most venomous animals have a flashy appearance. It's sort of a way to ward off an animal looking for a meal. This creature flashes or shows off their blue rings when they are threatened or scared. If the predator doesn’t care or is so desperate for a meal they risk their lives and go after the octopus. The octopus can shoot out an ink to spook the predators. These venomous creatures can live up to 12 years in captivity or in the wild and they enjoy eating small crabs and shrimp. In this type of octopus you can tell which octopus is man or female because the female octopus is larger compared to the male octopus. If this octopus were to bite you at first you wouldn’t notice the bite which is what the octopus wants you won’t notice the poison until you get respiratory distress and paralysis symptoms. Other effects of the poison are nausea, blindness, and heart failure. You don’t need to worry about this because octopus attacks are rare and only occur when you accidentally step on the octopus.
