Jumping Contest with Sharks

Ava Garcia

Updated: Feb 10, 2021

Have you ever wondered what type of shark can jump the highest?

No worries, your question will be answered.

The ability to jump higher is based mostly on the shape of the sharks' tails. A few sharks are able to use their tails to propel themselves outside of the water, leading to a fantastic jumping competition.

The Shortfin Mako shark is the gold metal winner in this jumping competition. It can propel itself 30 feet out of the water, which is equivalent to 9 meters.

The Thresher shark is our silver medalist. It can jump 20 feet, 6 meters, out of the water.

And our bronze medalist goes to the Great White Shark, with a height of 10 feet, which is 3 meters, out of the water!

Lastly, our runner-up shark is the Spinner shark. This shark can jump 5 feet out of the water, which is equivalent to 1.5 meters!
